Statement of Beliefs

The Holy Scriptures

I believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the verbally inspired, inerrant Word of God. (Matthew 5:18; John 10:35; II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21; Revelation 22:18-19)

The Godhead

I believe in one Triune God, existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, eternal in being, identical in essence, equal in power and glory and having the same attributes and perfection. (Deuteronomy 6:4; II Corinthians 13:14)

Man’s Condition

I believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam's sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, became alienated from God, and is totally unable without God's grace to regain its former position. (Genesis 1:26, 3:1-24; Romans 3:23, 5:12; Ephesians 2:12)

The Person and Work of Christ

I believe that the Lord Jesus, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man. I believe that He accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice. I believe that our redemption and salvation is guaranteed to us by His literal physical resurrection from the dead. (John 1:1, 14, 18; Luke 1:35; Romans 3:24-26, 4:25) I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is now in heaven, exalted to the right hand of God, where, as His people's High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of intercession and advocacy. (Hebrews 1:3, 3:1, 7:23-25, 9:24, 12:2; I John 2:1-2)

The Holy Spirit

I believe the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. He also, in the present age, regenerates believers in Christ, baptizes them into the body of Christ, indwells them permanently, seals them unto the day of redemption & bestows spiritual gifts upon each one. (John 3:8, 14:16, 15:26-27, 16:7-15; I Corinthians 12:4-11, 13; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18)

I believe that salvation is a gift of God in grace and is received by man through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins. (John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8)

The Eternal Security of the Believer

I believe that all those who have genuinely put their trust in Christ as Savior and Lord have become new creations in Christ and are kept eternally secure by the power of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of Jesus Christ.

(John 10:27-30; Romans 8:1, 29-30, 38-39; Ephesians 4:30; Hebrews 7:25; I Peter 1:5)

Common themes that I share about during ministry times:

THE OLD COVENANT-or "the covenant of law" which dispenses blessing and cursing based upon MAN'S ABILITY TO OBEY. The law can be summed up in Deuteronomy 9-27 (10 Commandments-Heb 9:4, Deut 9:11, 2 Cor 3:7 and ceremonial law). Blessing and curses for obedience and disobedience can be found in Deuteronomy 28. The curses for disobedience of the old covenant outweigh the blessings by 4 to 1. Disobedience of the old covenant at any one point (James 2:10) puts all man kind and any who try to please God on the bases of the "LAW" under a curse Gal 3:10 (See Deuteronomy 28 for curses). Sacrifices and offerings of bulls and goats were offered as an annual reminder of the people's sin...Heb 10:2-3. These sacrifices could NEVER remove sin or make the recipients Holy, Clean and Pure in the eye's of God...Heb 10:4. In fact God did not desire these sacrifices OR the old covenant because it was not able to make the people acceptable in His sight and did not restore fellowship with Him...Heb 10:5-6. The ministry of the old covenant is simply to show man that he is lost in sin and that only God is righteous. The old covenant in fact is the ministry of death 2 Cor 3:7, the reminder of sins Heb 10:2-3 and the covenant of cursing Gal 3:10 because we fail to obey.

THE NEW COVENANT-or "the covenant of grace" which dispenses blessing based upon JESUS CHRIST'S PERFECT PERFORMANCE UNDER THE LAW during His life on earth (Gal 4:4-5). His obedience was complete and He was the only man to deserve ALL OF THE BLESSINGS of Deut 28. Through His perfect sacrifice He forever made perfect and pure (took away the sins of) the recipients of this better covenant Heb 10:10-13. When those presently under the first covenant of law abandon it and their own self righteousness (condemned under the law) and put their faith in CHRISTS PERFECT PERFORMANCE and SACRIFICE...His perfect score card is transferred to them FOREVER (the righteousness from God Rom 1:16-18), thus qualifying them for the FULL BLESSING at all times based on CHRIST'S OBEDIENCE. His perfect sacrifice was offered ONE TIME, because it had the ability to permanently purify those who receive it Heb 10:1-4, Heb 10:10-12. Because the recipients of this new covenant have had their sins removed once (past tense) for all time there is no more need for a sacrifice for sins. Because this sacrifice (JESUS!) did it's job the first time, there is no more reminder of the peoples sin under the new covenant Heb 10:2-3. This is a better covenant (ministry of life) with better promises (life and blessing) based on a better foundation (Christ's performance, not man's) Heb 8:6.

THE AMAZING GOSPEL-or "the ministry of reconciliation" 2 Cor 5:18 which is that, IN CHRIST, God is no longer holding the worlds sin against it 2 Cor 5:19. That there is now permanent peace (unhindered un-breakable fellowship, favor and blessing with God) available to all who put their faith in Jesus Christ and receive the ministry of the new covenant. There is blessing, life, peace, and freedom available completely based upon Christ's perfect performance. For all who reject this gift there is condemnation, wrath and eternal punishment (Romans 1:16-18)

THE HOLY SPIRIT-The mediator of a better covenant based on a better foundation with better promises! He convicts the world John 16:8-12:

Of SIN-"because they do not believe in ME" (Once they believe-what is He convicting of? Just a thought!).

Of RIGHTEOUSNESS-because Jesus has gone to the Father (Jesus ministry on earth was constantly showing man how un-righteous man was by elevating the principles of the Law to unreachable limits Matt 5:20 leaving only one possible solution: belief in the finished work of the cross-by which the believers are declared pure and righteous forever! John 6:28-29). The Holy Spirit continues the work of Jesus in this area, convicting the world of their self righteousness by displaying God's righteousness as revealed through the law (Romans  1:16-18). In the life of a believer the Holy Spirit comforts and convicts a believer that they are holy, pure and righteous at all times because of what was accomplished through the new covenant.

Of JUDGMENT-because believers are judged? NO! Because the "the ruler of this world is judged". Jesus has taken back the authority that man lost in the garden (dominion over earth) and has removed Satan's power (the LAW-through which Satan had the power to condemn and accuse Col 2:15). Because of Christ's victory, Satan is condemned and stripped of power.
